Ah, Dakota sounds like he was genuinely one of the good ones. 12 years is a solid life. The fact that he was naturally well-behaved without any training is genuinely rare—most dogs need serious work to resist food temptation. These two would've robbed him blind and felt zero remorse 😂

Yeah, the blood incident with Brownie was absolutely terrifying- genuinely thought she was dying in front of me. Vet said it could've been parasites or something she ate that tore up her intestines.

About the sloth bear—yeah, it's genuinely sad. Habitat loss, human encroachment, poaching. The usual depressing cocktail. But there are conservation efforts happening, so maybe there's hope. Would be tragic to lose them.

And yeah, seeing leopards just hanging out in trees watching traffic is surreal. They're so unbothered by everything going on below them. If you ever get the chance to visit Sri Lanka, Yala National Park is where you'd see them. Worth the trip honestly.

The cyclone hit us hard—entire villages got buried under landslides. They're still digging out bodies in some areas. Kandy got off lighter than some provinces, but we were without power, water, and cellphone reception for days. Literally had a year's worth of rain fall in 24 hours, then it kept going for 5 more days straight. Infrastructure's wrecked in all areas. It's been brutal.

How are things on your end ?

Wow, he must have had an iron will to resist temptation 😂 These two would have cleaned the plate in 5 seconds flat. They can't even eat in peace without getting set on fire by the intensity of their doggy gaze. You should see Sudu going at it with a bowl of papayas. She doesn't eat them like a normal dog—she inhales them like a vacuum cleaner. No chewing necessary. Just straight consumption mode.

Hmm, maybe that's just the Everglades zone? I even heard the raccoon population was dropping a few years back. We have only one species of bear here (Sri Lankan sloth bear). Apparently, they might be one of the first species of large carnivores the world will lose in the future. Yeah, unfortunately, the world isn't big enough for all of us anymore hahaha.

Yup, but doing that in the middle of a highway is a bad idea. Surprised Raja hasn't been in a mishap yet, though his other colleagues can be a bit violent—like flipping over vehicles and charging. Probably because it runs through Yala National Park in one zone. You can sometimes see leopards hanging out on some trees close to the highway, just watching traffic pass by like they're spectators.

Yeah, she was only just barely a mewling little tuna bun with squinty little eyes back then. Used to take them both on walks around the yard. They couldn't be left unattended—too many predators around. Might have brought her up to my face once and quoted "to be or not to be," and she had this look of absolute puppy contempt and shivered a bit in the palm of my hand—then left me a little present in the form of a squirt of forbidden toothpaste hahaha. I thought fair enough, that's surely one way to show disagreement 😂

One time a pair of eagles landed on our neighbor's roof and was eyeing them (apparently this was the first time they'd ever seen them land on a roof—they tend to only roost around the mountain up top). While these two idiots were sleeping belly-up without a care in the world. Probably would've got snatched if we weren't home to intervene.

Both are about a year and 5 months old now. Brownie might be about a week older than Sudu, since they were both found on different days. Yeah, Brownie's back to her old self. Wasn't as bad as last time when at one point she was releasing what looked like raw chicken liver—thought that was part of her intestines or something. Even after the initial recovery, it took her a couple of weeks to fully bounce back to normal energy levels.

How old was Husky when he passed? And honestly, how did you manage that level of discipline with him? Because these two have absolutely zero impulse control whatsoever. Was it training from puppyhood, or was he just naturally well-behaved? I clearly failed somewhere along the way with mine😂

Just noticed that part of my last message from the 20th wasn't sent. Is there a word limit here ? Guess I just sent it to her. Yeah, Sudu, the little git, absolutely LOVES affection and showing dominance – especially if she's the only one getting it 😂 Jealousy central. When she was a small sausage-bun-sized toddler, one of the FIRST times she took a crap was directly in the palm of my hand – and she maintained unbroken eye contact the entire time. Should've known right then she'd be the problem child 💀? Oh, sickness in the family and dealing with their volatility (which is constant) and a bunch of other issues piling up. Brownie ended up getting sick with diarrhoea earlier this week, but it seems to have cleared up now. Thankfully, it wasn't as bad as the last time she got sick, when all she was ejecting was straight-up blood... that was absolutely terrifying. Vet visit, medication, the whole ordeal. She's okay now though. Some days are worse than most. C'est de la vie, eh ?
