"But an origin of the word "kort" has different versions"...I suppose in Turkic languages "kort" means the animal wolf...which is very symbolic animal for Turkic culture and custom.

Hi,
what is the meaning of Bashkurtostan? Is Bash- from Turkish word for "head"? and about the next part "-kort-" I guess it means "kurd" the race...maybe? and last but not least..-stan means a suffix for place or location or land at least in Iranian language.
